When thinking about having a website built it’s important to understand the process so that you have the best experience possible and receive the end result you envision for your website. Below you will find step-by-step details about our client process to give you an idea of what to expect when working with Webz by Elise.
Webz Client Process
Step 1 - Fill out and submit a project brief
This is probably the most important part of the process. On the project brief, you will have an opportunity to share the purpose and vision for your website. Information like target audience demographics and details about the industry niche is asked to give Elise an idea of the type of user that will visit the site. Here you will also have an opportunity to share what kind of content you already have, like images or logos, and if you need help finding more. Logo design is an additional service that can be added if needed. Help with finding the appropriate stock images is available and included in the initial web design cost. When filling out the project brief please share as much info as you can but please don’t stress out if you can’t answer a question.
Step 2 - Touchbase with a call or email
Next, you will have a phone call or email exchange with Elise to go over the project brief. During this step, project details, your timeline, and deliverables will be discussed. This is your chance to clarify the information shared in the project brief and ask any additional questions you may have before we officially get started. After the touch base Elise will send a Statement of Work outlining the purpose, deliverables, timetable, and payment schedule. Please carefully look over the SOW to make sure everything is correct then sign and return. When the signed SOW is returned you will receive an invoice for the first part of your payment that is due a week after receipt. Once payment is received Elise will begin work on your web design.
Step 3 - Work on your website begins
You will need a Squarespace account to get started. This point in the process may look different for each client depending on if you already have an account and/or domain with Squarespace. If you already have an account, you will then give Elise full administrative access so she can begin building your website. If you do not have an account, Elise can build the website on her account and then transfer full ownership to you when the project is complete. Follow this link to see pricing info for the various plans offered by Squarespace. If you need to transfer a domain, Elise will check to see if Squarespace supports domain transfer for your current web host.
Next, Elise will begin building your website after the initial payment and signed SOW have been submitted. It would also be helpful to submit as much of your content as possible if you can. A few items that are helpful to start with are your brand colors, fonts, and logo(s). If you do not have these available Elise can work with you to come up with a color palette and font pack. A logo can also be added for an additional fee. Please see Services for more offerings and price info.
After these things have all been submitted and sorted out the basic design details will be added to the site. At this point, Elise may reach out to share this basic design with you and collect additional content such as desired copy for the bio or service offerings depending on what else is needed. When the website draft is ready she will share it with you to collect your feedback so revisions can be made. Clients are welcome to reach out at any time during this step if they have questions or concerns.
Step 4 - Time to launch
Once all of the requested revisions have been made and the client signs off on the final version of their site an invoice for the final payment will be sent. After this final payment is submitted Elise will launch your site making it live for the public and remove her administrative access or transfer site ownership to the client. To get you started, you will also receive a brief website guide reviewing all of the key tips to manage and maintain your site. At this point, you may decide to set up monthly web maintenance or contact Elise as needed.
